Activities Close to Curious Cove Guest House
Tofino Beaches
Tofino beaches are famous for their spectacular setting, the clean water and beautiful sunsets. Our sandy beaches lend themselves to all sorts of west coast activities including surfing, boogie boarding, surf kayaking, walking, running, castle-building, day dreaming and just hanging out with friends with a little bocce.
Chesterman Beach
Curious Cove Guest House is centrally located to all the well known Tofino beaches so have your surfboard ready. A short 1/2km stroll brings you to South Chesterman Beach perfect for surfing and often a good place for beginners, although you'll also find the experts there riding the waves. South Chesterman Beach can be a good place for the family to get into the water, there's lots of space for everyone to take that magical first surf ride or catch a wave on a boogie board. Bring a picnic and make a day of it.
Walking north towards the lighthouse and around the point you'll find North Chesterman Beach - the home of the entire Cold Water Classic Canada in 2010. Whether you're looking to catch your first green or you're a hot shot surfer this is a good beach to ride Tofino waves. You'll find all levels of surfers here and like all the Tofino beaches, there's lots of room for everyone. Stretch out in the afternoon sun and stay until sunset.
Cox Bay Beach
Cox Bay Beach is a short bike ride along the bike path or a quick drive from Curious Cove Guest House. There you'll find waves for advanced surfers although head towards the middle of the beach and there is usually good white water to practice in for beginners. Cox is a fun beach to kick around all day until after the sun sets.
Pacific Rim National Park
The Park offers well known beaches (Long Beach, Florencia Bay Beach, Wickaninnish Beach) and others tucked away like South Beach and Schooner Beach. A ten minute drive takes you into the Pacific Rim National Park where you can hike through old growth forests and enjoy entire days exploring the long sandy beaches.
Tonquin Beach Park and MacKenzie Beach
Tonquin Beach is located on the west side of the village of Tofino and is a great beach to relax on, have a swim or get out your fishing rod and make a few casts. MacKenzie Beach is beside Chesterman Beach and is a smaller beach perfect for families or people with puppies - it's not so big that you won't loose track of little ones. The water at these beaches is usually more calm for exploring the ocean's edge.

Welcome to the Tofino Mudflats, Kayaking to Meares Island, Beach Sunsets and Tofino Surfing!
Hiking Trails
The Pacific Rim National Park offers many hiking trails through old-growth forest. Many of these trails are on boardwalk to protect the forest floor and take you either deep into the forests or down to secluded beaches. There's even one through a mystical bog. Closer to Curious Cove Guest House you may walk down to view the Tofino mudflats which is bursting with migratory birds, shore birds, ospreys, otters, seals and a beautiful view to famous Meares Island in Clayoquot Sound.
Shops and Tours
A short bike ride, a bit longer walk or a quick drive away is the village of Tofino. There you will find a vibrant community centre with whale watching tours, bear watching cruises, kayaking and surf shops, restaurants and cafés, galleries and book shops. The village is a perfect size for strolling through, looking in shop windows and seeing what makes this little town so picture perfect.
